WPS Office (金山办公) : Microsoft Office alternative bundling document, spreadsheet, presentation and PDF editors.

WPS Office is the suite from Chinese software company Kingsoft, pairing document, spreadsheet and presentation editors with a PDF toolkit across PC, mobile and web.

Files in Microsoft formats open and edit cleanly, cloud documents sync across devices, and a free tier covers everyday work with premium plans adding storage and AI.

By late 2024 WPS Office reported 632 million monthly active devices, and its English international edition runs on overseas devices without a mainland account.

How does WPS compare to Microsoft Office?

WPS is significantly cheaper (free with ads or /year premium vs + for MS Office). It has a huge built-in template library and stronger PDF editing. Mobile app is more feature-rich. Some advanced Excel and PowerPoint features are missing.

Is WPS Office safe? Does it collect data?

WPS Office has faced privacy concerns. The China version is subject to Chinese data laws. The international version claims compliance with GDPR and local regulations. Review the privacy policy for cloud document handling. Use offline mode for sensitive files.

Can I use WPS Office in English?

WPS Office has a full English interface and is available globally at wps.com. It is compatible with Microsoft Office file formats. The free version includes ads. No Chinese phone number is required for the international version.
